Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
I am the co-founder of Superfish Brands, a creative agency specializing in brand design and development. My business partner and best friend, Chris Reygel, and I created Superfish because we saw the opportunity to support small business – something very important to us. This year, our third, has by far been the most exciting. In addition to hiring and employing four awesome team members, we have also lent a good deal of our time becoming the Directors of Marketing for the first official Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*).
What are the biggest challenges and best rewards about what you do?
As an art director by trade and a creative person, the design and strategic brand work is the fun stuff. The challenge lies in the numerous aspects that don’t include design to make it succeed, like finance and bookkeeping. The biggest reward is seeing our ideas come to life and making our clients happy. We feel lucky to be able to do work that we believe in and that we know will help our clients thrive.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Southern California, Cheez-Its, and sleep.
Finish this sentence: I love Toronto because…
…it’s my home. It can be really big when you want it to be (go north of Bloor St. and I won’t run into anyone I know) and it can also be very small and intimate, especially when you run into all your friends in one night! Toronto is also really growing up and coming into its own; look around, there are so many new amazing restaurants, unique boutiques, and exciting cultural events! This city definitely has an entrepreneurial spirit and it’s showing.
What’s your favourite restaurant and why?
My favourite restaurant of the moment is Sunrise House in Koreatown. They make the best bibimbap (I know from experience, trust me).
What products are always in your beauty bag?
My evanhealy shea butter! It’s the best moisturizer for all body parts. You can use a tiny bit and it goes miles; dry skin to sun burns it cures most body ailments. Also, the evanhealy HydroSoul spray in Rose Geranium is like magic water that you spray on your face.
What style trends are you obsessed with right now?
Long jackets and big hats. I just traveled to Europe and even in the summer all the Parisians were wearing long jackets over whatever. Also, round spectacles! I just got a pair from Tom Ford and I’m in love!
What’s your favourite spa or service?
Massages and pedicures.
